Our
company was founded in 1938 by the late John G. Stropkey.
Joseph and Gregory J. Stropkey operated the nursery from 1970
until Joseph`s death in 1992. John V. and son Paul (3rd generation)
took over the nursery and the name was changed from
John G. Stropkey and Son to its present Stopkey Nurseries, Inc.
We have approximately 6 acres of containers, seed and liner beds,
summer and winter propagation results in about 750,000 cuttings
and seedlings. 25 acres of deciduous and broadleaf are grown on a
two year program. Stock is cultured for growing on in containers.
We raise a general line of shrubs, evergreens, and a few choice
perennials and grasses. We are somewhat noted for french and
dwarf lilacs, crimson pigmy barerry, prunus cistenam
artemisa silver mound. We have stock available in potted liners,
bareroot field and 1,2,3,5,&7 gallon containers.
